The manager of Senegal’s national football team, the Lions of Teranga, has assured that recent issues affecting the squad have been resolved, allowing the team to concentrate on their upcoming match. The national team is currently participating in the World Cup taking place in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
In recent days, the Senegalese team has faced scrutiny over several challenges, including unpaid player bonuses, the absence of a contract for head coach Pape Thiaw, and unsatisfactory conditions during their stay in the United States. During a press conference on Sunday, June 21, Thiaw confirmed the existence of these issues but emphasized that they have now been addressed.
“My contract? It’s sorted. It took too long. But I must make it clear that it was never a question of money, but rather a matter of principle and respect. It’s true there were some teething problems. But we’re all here – the coaching staff, the players, and the Football Association. We’re focused on the pitch and on tomorrow’s match; I think that’s the most important thing,” Thiaw stated.
Looking ahead, Senegal is set to face Norway in their second group stage match on Monday, June 22.
