In their first match of the Asia Cup 2025 held at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, Bangladesh achieved a significant victory over Hong Kong by seven wickets. After winning the toss, Bangladesh chose to bowl first, delivering a disciplined bowling performance led by Taskin Ahmed, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, and Rishad Hossain, restricting Hong Kong to just 143 runs in 20 overs.

Bangladesh took control of the match early by dismissing Hong Kong openers Anshuman Rath and Babar Hayat.

Chasing the target, Bangladesh easily secured the win thanks to a strong innings from captain Litton Das, who scored 59 runs off 39 balls. Although they faced some challenges in scoring after the powerplay, Litton’s powerful shots shifted the momentum in Bangladesh’s favor. The crucial partnership of 95 runs between Litton Das and Towhid Hridoy played a key role in their success. Towhid Hridoy remained unbeaten on 35 runs, adding strength to Bangladesh’s overall performance. Bangladesh clinched the victory with 14 balls to spare.

With this win, Bangladesh has made a strong start in the Asia Cup. Meanwhile, this marks Hong Kong’s second consecutive defeat in the tournament.
