The Kerala Cricket Association organized its first Junior Club Championship, where Athreya Cricket Club gained a massive first-innings lead of 269 runs against Thrippunithura Cricket Club. In another match, Vintage Cricket Club took an 18-run lead over RSC SG Cricket School, while Little Masters Cricket Club led by 15 runs against Sussex Cricket Club.
Athreya put up an impressive first-innings score of 366 runs. In response, Thrippunithura was bowled out for 97 runs. Dheeraj Gopinath’s outstanding bowling, which took six wickets, was key to Thrippunithura’s collapse. Shreehari and Navneet also took two wickets each. Madhav Vinod scored 30 runs, and Abhinav Madhu added 32 runs, providing some resistance for Thrippunithura. In their second innings, Athreya Cricket Club scored 151 runs for four wickets lost. Vishal George, who scored a century in the first innings, made 72 runs. The matches were held at the KCA Ground in Thripunithura.
In another match at KCA Ground 1 in Thripunithura, Little Masters batted against Sussex Cricket Club’s first-innings score of 172 runs and managed to score 187 runs. Abhinav R Nair was the top scorer for Little Masters, achieving 84 runs off 100 balls, including 15 boundaries. For Sussex, K P Sharon, K Aryan, Devanarayan, and Adikrishna Satish Babu took two wickets each. In their second innings, Sussex was at 71 runs for six wickets lost, with S V Adithyan taking four wickets and shining with his bowling.
At the Thumpa St. Xavier’s College Ground, Vintage Cricket Club was bowled out for 158 runs against RSC SG Cricket School. The team’s top scorer was captain Karthi Majhu, who made 44 runs, followed by Armaan Negi with 31 runs. For RSC SG, Shivadath Sudheesh and Yadu Krishna showed excellent bowling, taking four and three wickets, respectively, while R Ashwin claimed two wickets. Starting their second innings, RSC SG Cricket School had scored 199 runs for five wickets lost when play paused, with Mithun Krishna not out at 66 runs. Shravon C Panicker scored 42, and Devateerth added 40 runs for RSC SG, showcasing strong performances. In their first innings, RSC SG Cricket School had scored 140 runs.
