Raheem Sterling has moved on from a challenging period at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea and he have mutually agreed to end his contract, which was set to last until January 28, 2026. This decision follows a quiet loan spell at Arsenal, where he managed only one goal in 28 appearances. Journalist Pete O’Rourke reports that West Ham is currently the frontrunner to sign him.

Sterling’s Move and West Ham’s Fight for Survival

Fulham and Crystal Palace are also showing interest in the 31-year-old winger. O’Rourke believes that Sterling is considering various options. He might opt for a lucrative deal in the Saudi Pro League or the MLS rather than remaining in London.

On the Transfer Insider podcast, it was mentioned: “I don’t think Sterling has made any definitive decision on his future. He is open to all options.

“He is willing to consider moves outside of London and could look at leaving the Premier League.

“Napoli expressed interest in him during the summer, but their sporting director stated that while they admire Sterling, a deal would be challenging due to financial constraints.

“I expect interest from the Saudi Pro League, MLS, and Turkey as well.

“Despite his tough time at Chelsea over the last few seasons, Sterling will have plenty of options.”

Do the Hammers Need the Englishman?

West Ham’s situation is serious, currently sitting in 18th place in the Premier League after a rough patch under Nuno Espírito Santo. They have conceded 48 goals in just 24 matches, highlighting significant issues with their defense and overall setup.
