Big spending may be behind Chelsea but they need something new to boost a weak season
It looks like another quiet January for Chelsea, with no major signings expected.
The team is still linked with Jeremy Jacquet, and updates may come after their match against West Ham later today.
Liam Rosenior aims to build on his strong start at Stamford Bridge, facing a West Ham team that has performed well recently. The Hammers have made some notable signings this winter, with Pablo and Valentin Castellanos both playing in their latest game.

Lucas Paqueta has decided to join Flamengo in Brazil for £37 million, stating he wasn’t interested in fighting for survival in the Premier League this season.
In an interview with Flamengo TV, he confirmed that while Chelsea showed interest, he never considered it seriously.
“Tottenham called, Chelsea called, and my agent was excited saying, ‘Chelsea’s calling, they’re going to make an offer.’ I said, ‘Okay, but what about Flamengo?’”
“He asked, ‘Are you serious?’ I replied, ‘Yes, I want to hear about Flamengo,’ and that’s how it went.”
Chelsea’s interest in Paqueta was not new. Thiago Silva had recommended him to the club back in 2022.
Chelsea didn’t manage much this January
It’s unclear how Chelsea supporters would have reacted to Paqueta’s signing, but they likely would have welcomed any new additions this window.
The club is now focused on securing a top-four finish, having fallen out of the title race under Enzo Maresca.
Before Liam Rosenior took over at Stamford Bridge, reports indicated that the manager wanted assurances about winter signings. So far, that has not happened.
