• AC Milan won 1-0 against Inter in the Derby della Madonnina.

  • This victory narrows the gap in the Serie A title race to seven points.

  • Pervis Estupinan scored the only goal of the match in the 35th minute.

AC Milan remains in contention for the Serie A title, following their victory over Inter Milan.

Pervis Estupinan netted the winner, helping Milan secure a 1-0 triumph in the Derby della Madonnina on Sunday.

This win reduces Inter’s lead to seven points, with just ten matches left in the season. The atmosphere was electric in the San Siro, while Inter players expressed frustration after a potential equalizer was disallowed by the referee.

In stoppage time, Inter appeared to score from a quickly taken corner, but the referee had not approved it, leading to a premature whistle.

Prior to this match, Inter had enjoyed a strong run, winning their last eight Serie A matches and remaining unbeaten in fifteen games since their previous derby loss to Milan in November.

Youssouf Fofana assisted Estupinan on the left, where the Ecuadorian left-back struck a powerful shot into the net for the winning goal, just after Henrikh Mkhitaryan missed a clear opportunity for Inter.

Mkhitaryan had a one-on-one opportunity but couldn’t beat Milan’s goalkeeper, Mike Maignan.

Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni received the first yellow card for a foul on Adrien Rabiot. Both players needed attention, and Bastoni had to be substituted later due to the injury.

Luka Modric was booked for Milan toward the end of the match.

Inter played without Hakan Calhanoglu and Lautaro Martinez, who remained on the bench.

With this result, Inter stays at 67 points, while Milan moves to 60 points. Defending champions Napoli sit third with 56 points.

Genoa Upsets Roma

In another match, Vitinha scored for Genoa in a 2-1 upset against Roma, dealing a setback to Roma’s Champions League hopes.

Roma’s defeat follows last week’s draw with Juventus, putting them under pressure as they seek a top-four finish.

Roma and Como are currently tied on 51 points; however, Como has the edge on goal difference. Roma previously defeated Como in their earlier encounter, making head-to-head results crucial if standings remain level. Roma is set to visit Como next weekend, where the top four teams earn spots in the Champions League.

Junior Messias opened the scoring for Genoa from the spot early in the second half.

Evan Ndicka quickly equalized for Roma, but Vitinha scored the winner in the 80th minute, just minutes after coming off the bench, marking Genoa’s second consecutive home win.

Genoa now sits in 13th place.

In other matches on Sunday, Fiorentina drew 0-0 with Parma, remaining just outside the relegation zone, while Verona came from behind to win 2-1 against Bologna.

Earlier, Lecce defeated Cremonese 2-1 at home, moving above them in the standings and leaving them in the relegation zone.
