Modric’s delivery led to Pavlovic’s breakthrough before Nkunku set up Leao on the counter.
AC Milan defeated Cremonese 2-0 in Serie A to close the gap on leaders Inter to 10 points. Inter’s victory over Genoa had left Milan 13 points behind, but the late goals helped keep their title hopes alive ahead of next weekend’s Derby della Madonnina.
Cremonese, who previously beat Milan at home, has not won a league match since December 7. They put up a strong fight in the first half. Federico Bonazzoli narrowly missed scoring in the 26th minute, while Jamie Vardy couldn’t convert his chance from a corner.
Milan also had a great opportunity in the 34th minute when Youssouf Fofana set up Leao, but he missed the target. Fofana was denied again by Emil Audero just before halftime, and Milan began to dominate in the second half, though Leao missed another chance.
Milan seemed set for a draw when Niclas Fullkrug headed Luka Modric’s cross off-target in the 86th minute. However, in the 89th minute, Modric’s cross was flicked on by Koni De Winter and Pavlovic scored.
In stoppage time, Cremonese got caught in a fast break, allowing Christopher Nkunku to assist Leao for an easy tap-in.
