Alejandro Garnacho seemed poised for success at Manchester United, rising through the academy and making his way to the senior team.

However, after Erik ten Hag left the club, a public disagreement with Ruben Amorim led to Garnacho being sidelined, labeling him part of the “bomb squad.”

Along with Marcus Rashford, Antony, Jadon Sancho, and Tyrell Malacia, Garnacho was targeted for sale last summer, ultimately moving to Chelsea for £40 million.

Now, almost a year after joining Chelsea, the 21-year-old has appeared 37 times, scoring eight goals and providing four assists across all competitions.

In the Premier League, however, he has only one goal and four assists in 20 matches, raising questions about his future at Stamford Bridge.

Argentinian broadcaster TyC, as reported by Football London, suggests that a return to Argentina might be possible.

River Plate Eyes Signing Alejandro Garnacho on Loan

The report indicates that River Plate’s manager, Eduardo Coudet, has reached out to Garnacho regarding a loan for the coming season to help him regain his form.

Unfortunately, Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior has been using Garnacho less recently, giving him only 33 minutes against PSG over two Champions League matches, and 29 minutes against Port Vale in the FA Cup.

A loan could be beneficial for Garnacho, allowing him to recover his past performance without the pressures of the Premier League.

However, River Plate might not be the ideal choice due to their rivalry with Boca Juniors, whom Garnacho’s family supports.

Nonetheless, the biggest challenge for River Plate would be Garnacho’s salary. The club’s wage bill is approximately £545,000 per week, while Garnacho earns £110,000 per week, which is about 20% of that total.

This means River Plate would need to negotiate either with Chelsea to help cover the wages or with Garnacho to agree on a pay cut.
