On Monday, March 9, Bay FC announced that defender Alyssa Malonson has been placed on the season-ending injury list due to an ACL tear sustained during preseason camp.
Malonson joined Bay FC in December 2023 as the top pick in the NWSL 2024 Expansion Draft. In her first season with the team, she made 22 regular season appearances and scored her first professional goal on June 7, 2025, in a match against Portland Thorns FC.
Before playing for Bay FC, Malonson was with Seattle (formerly OL) Reign in 2022. After a slow start, she was loaned to Danish club FC Nordsjælland, where she made 13 appearances. She was originally selected 20th overall by the North Carolina Courage in the 2021 NWSL Draft, but chose to stay at Auburn University for a fifth collegiate season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Malonson has also represented the United States at the U-15 and U-23 levels and has one international cap with the USWNT from October 2024.
She was expected to start the season with Bay FC at home against the new team, Denver Summit FC. Malonson’s absence will be felt, as she was a key player in their defense.
