Andy Mitten has shared insights on how Manchester United views Benjamin Sesko’s future under interim head coach Michael Carrick.
With Carrick now in charge, the team’s playing style has changed. This means Sesko must work to regain his spot in the starting lineup.
The 22-year-old has been on the bench for Carrick’s first three games, with Bryan Mbeumo taking the forward position.
Mbeumo has adapted well, forming a solid partnership with Bruno Fernandes, who is now playing in a more central role.
Sesko did not feature in last month’s 2-0 victory over Manchester City but had brief appearances against Arsenal and Fulham.

Sesko received limited time in United’s 3-2 win over Arsenal but made a notable impact against Fulham.
The Slovenian forward entered the match in the second half, replacing Matheus Cunha.
He scored the winning goal late in the game, helping Carrick’s side secure the victory.
On The Athletic FC’s Talk of the Devils podcast, Mitten emphasized the club’s positive view of Sesko and his importance in future plans.
He stated: “I see him as a long-term player for Manchester United. Inside the club, there’s belief that he can become an exceptional striker.”

Mbeumo has scored twice in three matches since returning from international duty for the Africa Cup of Nations.
Mitten explained that Carrick’s choice of Mbeumo over Sesko is based on the need for immediate results.
“Carrick has opted for Mbeumo as a practical choice upfront due to the urgency for results,” he said.
“However, it’s beneficial to have someone like Sesko with his skills available from the bench,” Mitten added.
Since his transfer from RB Leipzig last August, Sesko has scored six goals in 21 appearances for Manchester United across all competitions.
