Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann has decided to delay his possible transfer to MLS team Orlando City this season, according to a report from ESPN on Wednesday.

This change follows Atletico Madrid’s advancement to the Copa del Rey final on April 18, after defeating FC Barcelona 4-3 on aggregate in the semifinals.

ESPN notes that Orlando’s offer, mentioned last month, was dependent on it being finalized during the MLS spring transfer window, which closes on March 26.

Griezmann is Atletico’s all-time top scorer with 210 goals across all competitions but has not won a major trophy with the club, where he has played for 10 seasons over two periods (2014-19 and 2021-26).

The 34-year-old forward won the 2018 World Cup with France and was named Player of the Tournament at the 2016 European Championship, scoring four goals as France finished second.

Overall, Griezmann has scored 297 goals in 787 domestic matches in La Liga and recorded 44 goals in 137 appearances for France before retiring from international play in 2024.
