Arsenal have clinched the London Derby against Chelsea with a narrow win of 1-0. The match was not very exciting as one would have expected as both the teams were missing goalscorers.
Maresca has looked helpless in the last few months
Enzo Maresca’s bottling of the second position has not been given too much notice by the media because of the bottling by Manchester City and the Gunners as well but Maresca has looked helpless in the last few months.
The start to the season was so good that at one time the Blues were the only team that were close to Liverpool and who could manage to be in the title race. But ever since the ‘title race’ comments, the downfall of Chelsea has been monumental.
Chelsea and Arsenal both have looked helpless in attacking perspectives
Both the clubs have looked helpless in attacking perspectives and have turned to midfielders and defenders to chip in with goals. The Blues were without Nicholas Jackson and Cole Palmer, the highest scoring attackers for Chelsea and Arsenal have a long list of injured attackers including Kai Havertz, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus.

Mikel Merino who slotted yet another goal from a set-piece
The match was dominated by Arsenal in the first 20 minutes which saw them create many chances but scoring only through Mikel Merino who slotted yet another goal from a set-piece. Although Arsenal went on a corner goal drought but on this occasion they succeeded in finding the net. They had previously gone 51 attempts since scoring their last corner goal on January 15 against Spurs, with this goal representing their 15th corner goal of the season.
Gunners came close from another Merino shot which was saved by the Goalkeeper Robert Sanchez on the goal line.
“It was an emergency situation we are in at the moment, but the way he’s approaching it is incredible,” said Arteta of matchwinner Merino.
“He wants to understand everything and learn from it. He’s very critical of himself all the time, and the reality is he’s winning football matches for sure which is incredible. He’s never played in that football position in his life.”
