Kai Havertz scored in stoppage time against Chelsea, leading Arsenal to a 1-0 victory and a 4-2 aggregate win to reach the English League Cup final at Wembley Stadium.
Havertz, who previously played for Chelsea for three seasons, entered the game in the 69th minute. He finished a counter-attack initiated by Declan Rice, rounding goalkeeper Robert Sánchez and scoring with almost the final kick of the match.
Arsenal, having won the first leg 3-2 at Stamford Bridge, dominated much of the match but struggled to break through Chelsea’s solid defense.
This victory keeps Arsenal’s dreams of winning the League Cup alive for the first time since 1993. The team has been runners-up six times, with the last one in 2018.
Arsenal is performing well in various competitions, currently leading the Premier League by six points, advancing to the fourth round of the FA Cup, and topping their Champions League group.
Midfielder Declan Rice commented on the team’s renewed focus on winning trophies, stating, “In the last three or four years, we’ve been near the top of the Premier League but haven’t quite made it. That’s why this year we have an extra drive to go further in every competition. There’s a long way to go, but being in a cup final with this club is fantastic.”
Arsenal will play either Manchester City or Newcastle United in the final on March 22. City currently leads their semi-final with a 2-0 advantage.
