The first FIFA Women’s Champions Cup concluded on Sunday at the Emirates Stadium in London. This tournament featured six continental champions competing to find the best women’s club team. In the final, Arsenal triumphed over Corinthians with a score of 3-2 after extra time. Gotham FC claimed third place after defeating AS FAR 4-0.

Arsenal took the lead early in the match. In the 15th minute, Olivia Smith scored after capitalizing on a rebound from a save by the Corinthians goalkeeper, energizing the home crowd.

Corinthians responded quickly. Just six minutes later, veteran midfielder Gabi Zanotti scored with a header from a set piece, bringing the game back to level terms.

The second half continued the back-and-forth action. Arsenal went ahead again in the 58th minute thanks to a header by Lotte Wubben-Moy. However, Corinthians kept fighting. In stoppage time, Katie McCabe was penalized for a foul in the box. A VAR review confirmed the penalty, which Vic Albuquerque successfully converted, leading the match into extra time.
