Arsenal showcased their strength again, securing a crucial 2-0 victory against Everton, significantly impacting the Premier League title race.

The Gunners scored their first goal in the 89th minute, followed by a second during injury time.

Both teams appeared set for a draw until a mistake by Jordan Pickford handed Arsenal the win.

Everton had defended well, but the error from Pickford changed the outcome of the match.

Arsenal’s Triumph Boosts Premier League Title Chase

With this win, Arsenal now has 70 points from 31 matches, while Manchester City, following a draw with West Ham, sits at 61 points from 30 matches.

City now faces a tough challenge to close the nine-point gap, even with a game in hand.

They will face Arsenal in an upcoming match, but victory in that game might still not be enough.

Arsenal benefitted from a moment of luck typically needed to succeed, especially against Everton.

The first goal came when Pickford misjudged a cross from substitute Max Dowman, allowing Viktor Gyokeres to score.

Dowman later scored himself during a counter-attack as Everton pushed forward desperately for an equalizer, sealing the match at 2-0.

Everton had opportunities to score in the first half, hitting the post and having a shot blocked by Riccardo Calafiori, while David Raya made some key saves to keep Arsenal in the game.

The Gunners frequently attacked down the right through Jurrien Timber, Bukayo Saka, and Kai Havertz, who often shifted positions.

Their formation switched between 4-2-3-1 and 3-4-2-1, with Timber moving into midfield to assist Eberechi Eze, while Saka and Madueke played as wing-backs.

After Timber’s injury, the threat on the right lessened, while Gabriel Martinelli, who came on for Madueke, attempted to create chances on the left.

Eze caused problems for Everton whenever he had space in their half.

However, Everton effectively marked Arsenal’s attacking midfielder, engaging players to counter his influence.

Despite making several defensive blocks and interceptions, all of Everton’s efforts were undermined by Pickford’s late mistake.

As a result, Arsenal capitalized on this unexpected error and continued to lead in the Premier League title race.
