Italian second-tier club Cesena has appointed former England international Ashley Cole as its new head coach.

Cole’s contract with the Serie B team is valid until June 30, with an option to extend under specific conditions, according to Cesena.

This marks Cole’s first managerial role after a playing career that ended in 2019. He has been gaining coaching experience since then.

His coaching career includes roles alongside Frank Lampard at Derby, Chelsea, and Everton, as well as working with Wayne Rooney at Birmingham and with the England national team.

Cesena recently parted ways with coach Michele Mignani on Saturday.
