Keith Wyness, former Aston Villa manager, states that Liverpool is unlikely to receive the full £35 million for Harvey Elliott this summer. During an appearance on the Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness mentioned that Aston Villa is expected to refuse the set buyout price in Elliott’s loan agreement, suggesting the Reds lower their asking price.

Liverpool Faces £35m Transfer Setback as Wyness Advocates for Agreement

A fee between £15 million and £20 million could potentially resolve the deadlock. Wyness believes this would enable Unai Emery to use Elliott for the rest of the season without the concern of heavy financial implications.

Wyness stated on the podcast: “They’re tight on budget, so they might only be able to accept something like £15m or £20m. This would allow them to play him more than the 10 matches he’s currently on. I think he’s played around seven or eight games. That’s the type of negotiation I see happening, and it could be beneficial for both teams.”

“I don’t believe he’d fetch £35m if he returns to Liverpool or is available for free in the summer. I think Liverpool will struggle to get that amount for him. So, it may be better for them to reach a deal with Villa now.”

“That’s the situation at hand, and I hope it gets sorted out. It seems sensible for both sides and for the player. Villa also has Douglas Luiz back, who is a strong competitor in midfield for Unai Emery.”

“They’re still in Europe, so I hope a resolution is found. That’s how I perceive it could unfold if it’s going to be settled.”
