Bergamo: After the dismissal of coach Ivan Juric, Atalanta has officially appointed former Fiorentina coach Raffaele Palladino as the new head coach. Palladino has signed a contract until June 2027 and will take over a team that has struggled, with only four wins in the Serie A and Champions League combined during the 2025-26 season.
Juric was let go following a 3-0 defeat at home to Sassuolo, marking him as the fourth Serie A coach to be dismissed this season. Currently, Atalanta is 13th in Serie A, just six points above the relegation zone. This indicates the club has not been able to rebound since the departure of longtime coach Gian Piero Gasperini.
Palladino, 41, has coaching experience with Monza and Fiorentina. Before leaving Fiorentina in July by mutual agreement, he had led the team to a sixth-place finish in Serie A, securing qualification for European competitions.
Palladino is known for his attacking style of football, and there are hopes he will rejuvenate Atalanta’s midfield and inspire new signings who have not made a significant impact this season. This appointment is seen as a strategic move to return the club to competitiveness in both domestic and European challenges.
