After Arsenal‘s heavy defeat in the Champions League, Atletico Madrid bounced back strongly by securing a vital 2-0 away victory against Real Betis in La Liga. Following the disappointment of a 4-0 loss in London, Diego Simeone’s team delivered an impressive performance at Estadio de la Cartuja. This marks their first away win of the season and their second clean sheet in the last nine matches, providing much relief.
Atletico Madrid started strongly, taking the lead in the third minute. Giuliano Simeone scored with a precise finish just outside the penalty box. This is his third goal of the season. Just before halftime, new signing Alex Baena doubled the lead with a beautiful curling shot, marking his first goal for the club. In the second half, Abde Ezzalzouli hit the crossbar with a free kick as Betis tried to respond, but Atletico’s defense, led by Jan Oblak, remained solid.
