Madrid: In a thrilling La Liga Madrid derby, Atlético Madrid delivered a stunning performance against their rivals, Real Madrid. The match, held at the Metropolitano Stadium, ended with a score of 5-2 in favor of Diego Simeone’s team.
In the 14th minute, after a set-piece, a cross from Simeone found Normand, who headed the ball into the net to give Atlético the lead. However, Real Madrid quickly responded to equalize. The second half was dominated by Atlético Madrid. Within six minutes of the restart, a dangerous high boot from Güler on N. González led to a penalty for Atlético, which Álvares confidently converted, putting Atlético ahead 3-2.
In the 63rd minute, Álvares scored his second goal with a powerful free kick that curled over the wall, leaving Courtois helpless and giving Los Colchoneros a strong 4-2 lead.
As Real Madrid pressed for a consolation goal, substitute Alexis Biayen intercepted a poor pass from Federico Valverde in midfield and set up Antoine Griezmann, who calmly finished with a touch to score Atlético’s fifth goal.
