As summer approaches, Marcus Rashford’s future is becoming clearer, with new details about Barcelona’s plans after his current loan.

Reports indicate that Rashford is likely to leave Manchester United for good this summer following a successful time in Spain.

The England international has gained confidence at the Spotify Camp Nou, and Barcelona is considering activating the option in his contract.

Mundo Deportivo states that Barcelona has laid much of the groundwork for this move with both Manchester United and Rashford.

The report suggests that Barcelona is ready to trigger the €30 million (£26m – £30m) purchase option and has agreed on a payment plan with Manchester United.

This plan would spread the payment over three years at €10 million per year.

Importantly, Rashford’s salary terms were agreed upon when he joined on loan last July, so no new negotiations with his agents are needed.

However, this deal depends on one important factor: La Liga’s financial fair play rules.

Barcelona needs to ensure that the total cost of the transfer, including wages for the proposed three- or four-year contract, stays within league spending limits.

Earlier, Barcelona looked into negotiating a lower price and considered selling Rashford for profit if a Premier League club showed interest.

But recent updates suggest that the club is leaning towards keeping him permanently due to his impressive performance this season.

From Manchester United’s side, Rashford’s departure fits into their larger plans for reshaping the squad.

The club has already invested in proven Premier League attackers like Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha, and the depth on the left wing has changed significantly since last summer.

At this point, the structure of the deal seems to be agreed upon.

Now, it just depends on whether Barcelona can manage the financial aspects.
