Barcelona‘s left back Alejandro Balde seemed destined to become the top player in his position during the 2022/23 season. Under Xavi, he helped the team secure the title, outperforming the previous year’s double winners, Real Madrid.
However, Balde’s performance has significantly declined, reaching a low point this year. He has even lost his starting spot to veteran Joao Cancelo, joining the team from the Saudi Pro League, as his attacking skills have stalled.
Now, according to MARCA’s Matteo Moretto, Barcelona’s sporting director Deco no longer views Balde as untouchable. The club is open to offers for the 22-year-old left back as they consider selling him.
While Balde is still young and has talent, he is not meeting Barcelona’s expectations. The club is willing to move on, as they have other upcoming players in their academy who could provide similar, if not better, potential.
