Manchester United is actively seeking talent from around the globe, with a particular focus on South America over the past year.

In the last 18 months, the club has signed Diego Leon from Paraguayan team Cerro Porteno and Cristiano Orozco from Colombian side Fortaleza, who is set to join Old Trafford this summer.

Now, their attention has shifted to Argentina and Boca Juniors.

According to Argentinian media outlet El Intransigente, Manchester United is interested in 18-year-old Tomas Aranda as a possible midfield addition.

However, the club faces competition from Chelsea in their bid to sign the promising young player.

Despite this interest, neither team has an easy path, as Boca Juniors aims to keep him.

Boca Juniors aims to hold onto Tomas Aranda

Club president Juan Román Riquelme is committed to keeping the academy graduate, who has recently stepped up in the senior squad due to injuries.

Since early March 2026, Tomas Aranda has been an important player for Boca, who have not lost a match since he became a regular starter.

On March 22, 2026, he scored his first goal for the senior team, helping them achieve a 2-0 victory at home against Instituto ACC.

With his contract running until 2029, Boca Juniors is under no obligation to sell him, giving them leverage in negotiations.

However, Manchester United may have an advantage, with former players Edinson Cavani and Ander Herrera currently in the squad alongside Aranda.

For now, Boca will likely focus on their league performance, as they sit in third place with 20 points, just two points behind league leaders Velez Sarsfield.
