Cole Palmer had an impressive performance tonight at Molineux Stadium, scoring a hat-trick to help Chelsea secure a 3-1 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers.
His first goal came in the 13th minute when he calmly converted a penalty into the bottom right corner after Matt Doherty fouled Joao Pedro in the box.
Twenty minutes later, Palmer took another penalty after Joao Pedro was pushed by Yerson Mosquera. Following a VAR check, he placed the ball in the bottom left corner for his second goal.
Palmer completed his hat-trick shortly after, connecting with a cut-back from Marc Cucurella and sending the ball into the roof of the net.
After the game, he celebrated his hat-trick on Instagram, sharing a photo of his signature celebration. Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes commented on the post, writing, “What a player” along with an applauding emoji.
Given the ongoing rumors about a potential move to Manchester United, Fernandes’ praise feels notable.
Reports during the January transfer window suggested Palmer was unhappy at Chelsea and frequently traveled to his hometown of Wythenshawe, hoping to return to Manchester. As a lifelong Manchester United fan, many believed a move to Old Trafford was more likely than a return to the Etihad, where he developed through the Manchester City academy.
However, Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior dismissed these rumors, insisting Palmer is not leaving and will remain at Stamford Bridge.
For now, the England international continues to add goals for Chelsea as they strive for a place in European competitions.
