Manchester United’s Benjamin Sesko is emerging as a notable player, even when compared to Manchester City’s Erling Haaland.
Haaland has scored 22 goals this season, while Sesko has netted eight. However, these figures don’t tell the full story. Unlike Haaland, who is a regular starter for City, Sesko has had fewer opportunities at United.
When you analyze his stats alongside similar points in their careers, it becomes intriguing. At the same age as Sesko, Haaland played 53 matches and scored 41 goals for Borussia Dortmund.
This indicates that although there is nearly a two-year difference in their career stages, Sesko has shown that he can keep pace with one of football’s top talents.
Benjamin Sesko can fill Rasmus Hojlund’s role
In November, before Denmark’s Euro qualifier against Northern Ireland, Rasmus Hojlund suffered a calf injury that sidelined him until February.
During his absence, Sesko took the opportunity to display his scoring skills, finding a good rhythm under Erik ten Hag. When Hojlund returned, he was in top form, contributing four goals and an assist in five appearances across competitions.
However, shortly after, both players faced a decline in form, coinciding with the team going through a four-match winless streak from late February to early March.
