Real Madrid faced a heavy blow with a 2-0 defeat to Celta Vigo in a La Liga match held in Madrid. The game ended with two red cards in the final moments, leaving coach Xabi Alonso’s team to finish with nine players. This loss puts Real Madrid four points behind first-placed Barcelona.

Celta Vigo’s substitute, Wilhelm Swedberg, scored both goals in the second half. He netted the first with a powerful finish from a cross by Bryan Zaragoza. He then added a second goal during injury time, getting past Thibaut Courtois. Despite long periods of game control from Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Junior, and Arda Güler, Celta Vigo effectively defended against Real Madrid’s efforts.

Madrid created several chances but struggled with accuracy in front of goal. Jude Bellingham’s header, along with attempts from Güler, Vinicius, and Federico Valverde, were stopped by Celta Vigo’s Yanis Rahou. Celta Vigo capitalized on a counter-attack to score.

Real faced another setback when defender Éder Militão was injured in the first half. As Madrid pushed for an equalizer, Fran García received two yellow cards for fouling Swedberg, leading to a red card in the second half. With Álvaro Carerra also sent off during injury time, Madrid ended up with nine players on the field as Celta Vigo secured their second goal.

This marks Real Madrid’s first home defeat of the season, and they have only managed one victory in their last five La Liga matches.
