Chelsea Women have made a significant move to enhance their football leadership by appointing Phil Radley as the new Sporting Director.
The club announced Radley’s appointment on Friday, September 27, and he will begin his role in March.
Radley comes to Chelsea after a successful tenure at FC Nordsjaelland in Denmark, where he spent over ten years in senior football positions.
His background in football operations and player development is seen as a great advantage for the women’s team.
Radley to Develop Chelsea Women’s Long-Term Strategy
In his new role, Radley will collaborate closely with Head Coach Sonia Bompastor and her technical staff, as well as the club’s leadership. Chelsea expects him to play a vital role in creating a long-term sporting strategy for the women’s team.
A major focus of his job will be to promote the club’s sporting vision, ensuring performance, squad planning, and recruitment are aligned to keep Chelsea competitive at the highest level.
He will also manage player contracts and negotiations with agents, essential tasks for running a successful football team.
In a statement, Phil Radley expressed his pride in joining Chelsea Women.
“This team has immense talent and resilience, boasting an impressive record and a bright future,” he stated.
“I am eager to work with Sonia, the players, and the broader football staff to contribute to the next chapter of this club’s success story.”
