Todd Boehly’s time at Chelsea has been quite eventful, marked by heavy spending, even surpassing that of previous owner Roman Abramovich.
Under Boehly, Chelsea has completed 38 permanent transfers. This piece focuses on the first 19.
We will only consider permanent transfers, not loans or trials.
Enzo Fernandez
After a slow start at Chelsea, where he struggled with positioning and adapting to the Premier League, Enzo Fernandez has become one of the team’s top players. This season, he has scored eight goals and provided two assists from midfield.
Mykhailo Mudryk
Mykhailo Mudryk came to Chelsea with a lot of expectations but has not met them. He faced criticism after a series of poor performances and was suspended for breaching the FA’s anti-doping rules.
Noni Madueke
Noni Madueke, also joining with much fanfare, has not established himself in the Chelsea first team. He now plays for Arsenal, who signed him for £50 million. Initial skepticism around his transfer has faded as he has begun to perform well.
Malo Gusto
Malo Gusto was signed as a backup to Reece James, but due to James’s injuries, Gusto has received more playing time than anticipated. He has proven to be one of the more successful signings, known for his speed and stamina, making him a reliable player.
Benoit Badiashile
Benoit Badiashile has become less involved with the Chelsea squad. After several mistakes on the field, he is now mostly a backup. He has good physical attributes but has not yet shown his potential while playing for Chelsea.
Cesare Casadei
Cesare Casadei made a minimal impact at Chelsea, appearing in just 11 Premier League matches. He transferred to Torino in Serie A in the summer of 2025 and has also spent time on loan at Reading and Leicester City.
David Datro Fofana
David Datro Fofana hasn’t had many opportunities to play for Chelsea either, and his contract runs until the summer. He has appeared in just three Premier League games since joining the club, making it likely that his contract won’t be renewed.
Andrey Santos
Andrey Santos has also spent most of his time away on loan from Chelsea. This season, he has had a few chances in the first team, although his minutes have mostly come in domestic and European cup games.
Moises Caicedo
Moises Caicedo’s arrival at Chelsea raised eyebrows due to his £115 million transfer fee. Initially, he struggled, but he has since become one of the top holding midfielders worldwide.
Romeo Lavia
Unlike Caicedo, Romeo Lavia has faced injury issues throughout his career. He is still contracted to Chelsea but has played just 21 Premier League matches since joining in 2023.
Christopher Nkunku
Christopher Nkunku’s time at Chelsea was also heavily impacted by injuries. He was signed for £52 million but failed to justify the fee, scoring only six goals in 38 Premier League games before being sold to AC Milan in 2025 for around £37 million.
Cole Palmer
Cole Palmer has emerged as the standout signing during Boehly’s tenure. After struggling at Manchester City, he has become one of Chelsea’s top players, scoring in the Euro 2024 final and winning the Club World Cup in 2025.
Nicolas Jackson
Nicolas Jackson had a mixed time at Chelsea. With a decent goal count of 24 in 65 Premier League games, he didn’t connect well with the fanbase. Lacking in technical skills, he made up for it with his speed. He was sold to Bayern Munich in the summer of 2025.
Lesley Ugochukwu
Lesley Ugochukwu’s career at Chelsea has been uneventful, with only 12 Premier League appearances. He now plays for Burnley after moving for a lower fee than the £23.1 million Chelsea paid in 2023.
Robert Sanchez
Robert Sanchez has received mixed reviews since joining Chelsea. He has shown himself to be a capable goalkeeper at times, but he is also known for making mistakes. As Chelsea’s main goalkeeper, he may face competition for his spot in the summer.
Djordje Petrovic
Djordje Petrovic mainly served as a backup to Sanchez during his Chelsea tenure. Signed for £14 million, he has moved to Bournemouth, where he is now their starting goalkeeper, while Chelsea still relies on Sanchez.
Angelo
Angelo was expected to be a significant player for Chelsea after impressing at Santos. However, he never made a Premier League appearance and eventually left to join Al-Nassr.
Diego Moreira
Diego Moreira also did not get a chance to play in the Premier League for Chelsea but was signed on a free transfer. After spending one unremarkable season at the club, he moved to Strasbourg in the summer of 2024.
