Bay FC has secured their key midfielder.

Claire Hutton and the club, based in San José/San Francisco, have signed a five-year deal that lasts until the 2030 National Women’s Soccer League season. Hutton joined Bay FC on February 11 after being traded from the Kansas City Current for $1.1 million.

Details of the contract were not disclosed by Bay FC.

“I am excited to make this commitment to Bay FC,” Hutton stated in a press release. “This is a club with real ambition, and I’ve felt supported in my growth since day one. This is a mutual investment, with the club believing in me and me believing in our goals. I’m eager to keep building with this team and representing the Bay Area over the next five years.”

Hutton played in the first two matches of the season for Bay FC, including a 2-1 victory over the expansion team Denver Summit on March 14 and a 3-1 defeat against Angel City FC on March 21. She started both matches and played the full 90 minutes.

“Claire is an outstanding player, and we’re thrilled to have her sign a new five-year contract with Bay FC,” said Bay FC head coach Emma Coates in a press release. “She has already made a significant impact, and I believe her contributions will help shape our future success. This is an important step in creating something truly special, and Claire is integral to that vision.”

Hutton began her career with the Kansas City Current for the 2024 season. Over two seasons with them, she made 41 starts in 47 games, recording three assists and accumulating 3,471 regular-season minutes.

The 20-year-old midfielder is also part of the U.S. women’s national team. She made her debut in February 2025 during the SheBelieves Cup and has since recorded 15 appearances, scoring one goal. She captained the national team in a friendly against Paraguay on January 24 this year.

Bay FC is set to play against the North Carolina Courage at WakeMed Soccer Park on Saturday, March 28.
