A former Manchester United midfielder may be making an unexpected move to Brazil.

After becoming a free agent at the end of last year, the experienced player, who can also play on the wing, has been considering his next steps.

This month, he was linked with Brazilian club Clube do Remo, highlighting interest from South America.

According to ESPN, Sport Club Corinthians Paulista are in advanced talks to finalize a deal for former Manchester United player Jesse Lingard.

The report indicates that financial terms are already settled, with Corinthians working on finalizing the official details.

A one-year contract is expected if discussions wrap up successfully in the next few hours.

Lingard, 33, came up through the ranks at Manchester United, making over 230 appearances and scoring 35 goals from 2015 to 2020.

He notably scored the winning goal in extra time, leading Manchester United to victory against Crystal Palace in the FA Cup final in 2016.

During his time at Old Trafford, he won domestic and European titles and earned a spot on Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Later in his United career, Lingard had a successful loan at West Ham United, catching the attention of several Premier League teams.

Afterward, he played for Nottingham Forest before moving to South Korea in 2024.

His two seasons in the K League with FC Seoul represented a new chapter, but he has been without a club since December.

A transfer to Corinthians would mark another shift in a career that has taken him from Manchester to London, Seoul, and potentially Sao Paulo.

For the Brazilian club, bringing in a player with English Premier League experience would add valuable know-how and appeal ahead of the upcoming season.
