New York City FC defender Drew Baiera will have surgery for a torn ACL in his left knee, the team announced on Thursday.
Baiera has played 21 minutes across three matches for NYCFC but has not scored.
According to NYCFC.network, he injured his knee while playing for the U.S. youth national team.
The 19-year-old will start his rehabilitation right after the surgery.
New York City FC will play against the Vancouver Whitecaps on Saturday.
