The San Jose Earthquakes have loaned forward Cristian “Chicho” Arango to Colombia’s Atletico Nacional as of Monday.

This arrangement is for the 2026 season and includes an option to buy Arango, who is returning to Colombia for personal reasons.

Arango, 30, scored 13 goals and provided seven assists in 30 matches during his first season with San Jose in 2025, after being traded from Real Salt Lake.

The 2021 MLS Newcomer of the Year won both the MLS Cup and Supporters’ Shield while with Los Angeles FC in 2022 and was selected for the All-Star team in 2024.

He has a total of 66 goals and 26 assists in 122 regular-season games, playing for LAFC (2021-22), Real Salt Lake (2023-24), and San Jose.
