Everton is currently in the lead to sign Manchester City forward Jack Grealish. The club is assessing whether they can afford to keep him on loan for the 2026/27 season. Pete O’Rourke shared insights on the Transfer Insider podcast, indicating that Everton remains the favorite to secure him.

Everton Aims for Extended Grealish Loan Amid Financial Challenges

Despite having a £50 million option to buy him in their existing agreement, the club seems reluctant to pay such a large sum. They are also concerned about meeting his high salary. Manchester City recognizes that Grealish, now 30, does not have a future at the club and is exploring ways to facilitate his departure.

On the Transfer Insider podcast, O’Rourke mentioned: “Everton are in pole position to sign Grealish if he leaves Man City. They hold a £50 million purchase option, but they prefer not to pay that.”

“The good news for Everton is that Grealish is keen on returning to the club. He has enjoyed his time under David Moyes, who has appreciated having him available.”

“It’s certain that he doesn’t have a long-term future at City, and they are open to various options for moving him, be it a permanent transfer or another loan.”

“A permanent transfer would still be costly due to his wages and the transfer fee, so Everton would ideally prefer another loan deal if possible.”

“Talks between Everton and City are likely to take place to explore a possible agreement.”
