Crystal Palace places £20m bid for Everton winger Dwight McNeil
A recent update from Sky Sports indicates that Crystal Palace has taken action.
“Crystal Palace has submitted a late bid of £20m for Everton winger Dwight McNeil. Both Nottingham Forest and Palace have shown interest, but initially proposed loan deals, which Everton declined,” the report stated.
It continued, “Everton is nearing a loan deal for left winger Tyrique George from Chelsea, with a purchase option. This has led Everton to reconsider McNeil’s potential departure.”
The interest in Tyrique George has shifted Everton’s perspective, making what was once a firm stance more open to discussion.
Everton in a rush as Dwight McNeil’s fate hangs in the balance
Despite the significant offer, Everton has not yet officially replied.
“There has been no update on Everton’s response to Palace’s proposal, but Oliver Glasner’s side must complete the necessary paperwork and medical checks before the 7 pm deadline,” the report noted.
The timing creates a tight window for decisions. For Palace, McNeil is seen as an ideal fit for the Premier League who can integrate smoothly into Glasner’s strategy.
For Everton, the choice is more complicated. McNeil offers experience and stability, but the chance to refresh the squad with new players has changed the dynamics.
The lateness of the bid indicates negotiations could go down to the wire. If Palace acts quickly, the deal remains possible.
If not, Everton may keep McNeil past the deadline. Either way, his future is now uncertain.
