Former Everton chief executive Keith Wyness has made a significant announcement about Harry Wilson’s future. He believes Sunderland could make a surprise bid for the Fulham midfielder this summer. During an episode of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 67-year-old insider mentioned that Sunderland has become a serious contender for Wilson.
Sunderland Eye Summer Move for Fulham’s Harry Wilson
Wyness pointed out that a move in January didn’t happen because Fulham was not willing to weaken their squad during the season. However, the situation may change in the summer transfer window. Recently, Manchester City prospect Oscar Bobb joined Fulham, increasing the competition for attacking positions, which could create an opportunity for Wilson to leave.
As February 2026 progresses, the situation continues to evolve. Fulham chose to retain Wilson during the winter window, prioritizing their goal of European qualification over selling a player whose contract ends in June. Still, Wyness believes Wilson needs to consider his next significant career move.
At 28, the winger faces an important decision. Wyness feels that if Wilson aims for a major transfer, he must find his form to demonstrate his value to clubs like Sunderland. Initially caught off guard by the link, Wyness later acknowledged that the Welsh international fits Sunderland’s style well.
He stated on the podcast: “He’s a very talented kid, but he’s getting on, he’s 28 now. So this is an important move for him as to where this goes.
“But I don’t see him moving. I thought he may have done something in January, but Fulham wants to hold on to him for now. With Oscar Bobb arriving, that’s more competition up front. So let’s see how this unfolds in the second part of the season.
