Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann has been a standout player in football for the past ten years. However, at 34 years old, he is reportedly heading to Major League Soccer (MLS), as noted by Fabrizio Romano.
According to Romano, Orlando City is actively negotiating to sign Griezmann from Atletico Madrid. The club’s director, Ricardo Moreiro, recently visited Spain as part of efforts to recruit the French player and add another La Liga star to their team in Florida.
Romano also mentions that Orlando aims to finalize Griezmann’s signing in the upcoming weeks, ahead of the 2026 MLS season.
This season, Griezmann has taken on a more subdued role at Atletico, with six starts and 16 appearances off the bench in La Liga, showing signs of reduced athleticism.
Despite this, just like Lionel Messi and other former European stars now in MLS, Griezmann still possesses significant technical skills and moments of brilliance, which could allow him to excel in the league akin to recent notable players like Marco Reus and Son Heung-min.
Orlando City currently features one notable European player, Marco Pasalic, while his former Atalanta teammate Luis Muriel has recently returned to play in Colombia.
