Real Madrid is facing challenges in midfield as they have not replaced Luka Modric or Toni Kroos. Despite some concerns over French players Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni, Fabrizio Romano reports that the club does not plan to sell either player.
Madrid Xtra shared Romano’s insights, stating, “Tchouameni and Camavinga are viewed as essential players at Real Madrid. Currently, the club is not considering selling a midfielder but is looking to add one.”
Previously, Romano mentioned that Real Madrid is seeking new midfield talent. Even ahead of the 2025/26 season, the club was linked to players who could control the midfield. However, President Florentino Perez declined Xabi Alonso’s suggestion to pursue Martin Zubimendi, who is reportedly headed to Arsenal.
Tchouameni was signed for over 80 million euros in 2022 as Casemiro’s replacement. While he has had strong performances, he has struggled with consistency and controlling matches.
Camavinga occasionally outshines Tchouameni but also faces difficulties due to limited playing time, even proving capable of playing left back when needed.
It would not be wise for Real Madrid to sell either player for less than their market value, only to see them excel elsewhere. According to Romano, it would be more beneficial for the club to target players like Angelo Stiller from Stuttgart or Adam Wharton from Crystal Palace rather than letting go of current assets.
