Tottenham is looking to sign a creative midfielder this summer.
After a quiet winter transfer window, Tottenham Hotspur plans to make significant changes to their squad in the summer.
The team has been lacking creativity and goals from midfield, especially after James Maddison’s ACL injury during the pre-season tour in Asia and Dejan Kulusevski’s ongoing absence. They aimed to add creative players but faced challenges last summer.
Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers was among their targets. Spurs were impressed with his performances in the Premier League last season, and former manager Thomas Frank wanted to sign him. However, they couldn’t agree on a transfer fee, leading Rogers to stay at Villa Park where he has continued to grow under Unai Emery.
Fabrizio Romano reports Tottenham’s interest in Morgan Rogers
After a slow start to the 2025/26 season, Morgan Rogers has found form at Aston Villa, scoring 10 goals and providing seven assists in 35 matches, with eight goals and five assists in the Premier League. The 23-year-old has become vital to Unai Emery’s squad, contributing significantly to their creativity and scoring.
Tottenham has remained interested in Rogers following their unsuccessful attempt to sign him last summer. Journalist Fabrizio Romano mentioned that the north London club “dreams” of acquiring the Villa star.
“For Tottenham, he is a dream target, but at the moment, he was not available last summer, so Tottenham could not move forward,” Romano stated on his YouTube channel.
