Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami played to a 2-2 draw against Red Bull New York on Saturday night in a game filled with late excitement.
Luis Suarez did not start the match, entering the game in the 79th minute to replace Ian Fray as Miami looked for a winning goal.
Though Miami remained competitive, a key moment post-match was Suarez’s missed chance that gained attention on social media.

Suarez had a great chance late in the game after receiving a well-placed right-footed pass from Messi inside the box.
With only Ethan Horvath to beat, the Uruguayan missed a close-range shot, wasting what looked like a sure goal, although the play was later ruled offside.
The offside ruling did not stop online backlash, as criticism poured in about the miss.
“Suarez better retire. I really don’t know why he is still playing,” remarked a user on X.
Another added: “Suarez is clearly finished.”
“And he missed it, just like old times,” commented a Barcelona supporter, recalling the striker’s previous moments at the club.
Messi creates chances but can’t deliver key contributions
Messi did not score or assist, despite being influential throughout the match.
According to SofaScore, he created three significant chances with an expected assist rate of 1.18 and made four key passes. However, these did not lead to any goals.
The Argentine also missed a significant opportunity, reflecting a frustrating evening for Inter Miami in front of goal.
