Bayern, who entered the second leg with a comfortable 3-0 lead posted a 2-0 victory to seal a 5-0 aggregate triumph over Leverkusen, in an impressive show of dominance.
The match was significant for its main striker Harry Kane who scripted history by scoring his 10th goal in Europe this season. This is more than any other English player has ever scored in a single Champions League season.
The England captain struck in the 52nd minute, following a deflected clearance from Patrik Schick taking the game away from Leverkusen while achieving a new milestone in the Champions League.
Harry Kane has scored 32 goals in 36 matches across all competitions for Bayern Munich. His contributions for the German Giants in the lead up to the quarterfinals have been sensational.
Coach Vincent Kompany was all price for the star striker.
“It helps when you have a top player who wants to run and fight for the team like a youth player,” Kompany said of Kane at the post-match press conference.
“I played against him as an opponent, and he has become better with age. He has a way to work towards his performances.
“I trust his consistency and how he works towards his game, and with that quality, you always get your moments.”
