Manchester United has been performing well since Michael Carrick took over as interim manager.

However, injuries are increasing, making each setback more significant as the season progresses.

Injuries are not the only issue affecting United’s progress.

The team faced another setback when Harry Maguire was charged by the FA after his red card against Bournemouth.

The incident happened late in the match when Maguire received a red card, allowing Bournemouth to score from the resulting penalty.

Frustration led the experienced defender to react angrily towards referee Stuart Attwell and confront the fourth official as he left the field.

The FA confirmed the charge on X, stating, “Harry Maguire has been charged after being sent off in the 78th minute of Manchester United FC’s Premier League match against AFC Bournemouth on Friday 20 March.

“It’s alleged that the defender acted in an improper manner and/or used abusive and/or insulting words and/or behavior towards the fourth official following his dismissal.”

“Harry Maguire has until Thursday 2 April to respond.”

This situation raises further worries for United, who already have a depleted defense during a crucial period of matches.

Lisandro Martinez is still out, though he is expected to travel with the team to Ireland, while Matthijs de Ligt is unavailable due to a back issue, limiting central defense options.

Despite facing criticism in recent seasons, Maguire has regained a crucial role in the team.

There are also indications that Maguire may extend his contract at Old Trafford, with discussions ongoing regarding a one-year renewal.
