Hirving Lozano is no longer part of San Diego FC after a season with the MLS team, where he was one of the highest-paid players. He is currently inactive, waiting for a decision on whether he will be loaned or remain without playing while still receiving his salary.

On January 9, Tyler Heaps, the sporting director of the club, announced that the Mexican forward would not continue with the team, despite having a contract until 2028, according to SanDiego.Futbol.

Lozano was removed from the squad late last season due to reported disciplinary issues. Although he later apologized to the coach and teammates and was reinstated, he was not used as a starter during the playoffs.

This incident led the coach and management to decide that Lozano will not play for San Diego again. He has been inactive for the past two months, which is concerning for him as he aims to be considered for Javier Aguirre’s World Cup roster.

Hirving Lozano’s brother cites attitude problems for San Diego FC exit

In light of this situation, Lozano’s brother, Bryan, criticized his attitude, noting that there were issues during his time at other clubs.

“He had conflicts at Napoli with Gennaro Gattuso and his staff, as well as at PSV. His arrogance has led to problems and has affected how clubs view him,” Bryan said in an ESPN interview.

“Even if he earns a lot in San Diego, that doesn’t excuse his behavior, as a healthy locker room is crucial. Many would be hesitant to sign him because of the risk of similar incidents happening again,” he added.

Lozano has been estranged from his family for years, which explains Bryan’s comments about his brother’s behavior. He further noted that Lozano disrespected the San Diego coach during a game against Houston Dynamo, marking a pattern of indiscipline that has also been discussed in the national team context.

“I learned through social media that he disrespected the coach, which is part of a recurring attitude. His indiscipline is widely talked about in the national team,” Bryan stated in the interview.
