Goa: The AIFF Super Cup 2025-26 tournament kicked off dramatically at GMC Stadium, despite heavy rain. In the opening match, Inter Kashi FC held NorthEast United FC to a 2-2 draw. Both teams fought hard, even with tough conditions.

Inter Kashi, newly promoted to the I-League, surprised the Durand Cup champions early in the match. Harmanpreet Singh scored in the fifth minute, taking advantage of a defensive error by NorthEast. However, NorthEast quickly equalized, with Moroccan striker Al Aeddine Ajari finding the net in the 18th minute. Just before halftime, in the 40th minute, Miguel Sabaco headed in a powerful goal to give Highlanders the lead.

The young Indian players from Inter Kashi were not willing to back down. They played with increasing confidence in the second half. Their efforts paid off in the 74th minute when Karthik skillfully brought the ball into the net to restore equality. In the final moments, NorthEast players, including Redeem Tlang and Toy Singh, worked hard for a win, but Inter Kashi’s defense held strong, securing a crucial point for them.
