Guglielmo Vicario Linked with Inter Milan Move
As the summer transfer window approaches, Tottenham Hotspur aims to enhance their squad after facing injury challenges in past seasons. Currently, the team is missing 12 first-team players ahead of the North London derby against Arsenal. With Igor Tudor stepping in as interim manager, the focus is on avoiding relegation and stabilizing performance. The outcome of the season could significantly impact the futures of several players.
This summer presents an opportunity for the Tottenham management to fill gaps in the squad. However, some players may also leave the club.
Inter Milan Interested in Guglielmo Vicario
Goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario is reportedly eager to leave Tottenham, with a return to Serie A being his top choice. Inter Milan is particularly interested in the 29-year-old as a potential replacement for their current No.1, Yann Sommer.
Sommer, who is 37 and nearing the end of his career, has a contract that expires at the season’s end. Therefore, Inter is planning for a future without him and sees Vicario as a suitable option, supported by comments from Italy legend Walter Zenga.
According to the Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport, Inter is negotiating with Vicario’s representatives for a summer deal. They prefer to start with a loan arrangement that includes a conditional obligation or an option to buy, as Tottenham’s asking price of ‘around €25-30m’ is a key hurdle. Inter wishes to allocate funds to improve other positions as well.
Tottenham Planning for Vicario’s Departure
Since joining Tottenham from Empoli in 2023, Vicario has struggled to establish himself as a dependable goalkeeper, facing criticism for multiple mistakes. Opposing teams frequently target him during set-pieces and corners.
Given Vicario’s intention to return to Italy, Tottenham is already looking for a suitable replacement. Bart Verbruggen of Brighton is among the candidates being considered based on their scouting this season.
