Jamie Carragher agrees Casemiro has impressed

During Sky Sports coverage after United’s 3-2 victory over Fulham, Carragher commended Casemiro’s revival and suggested that the player could respond to his past criticisms.

“He has shown this season that he can still perform. His impact is clear, especially in matches against teams like Arsenal and Manchester City,” Carragher noted.

He added, “Casemiro might feel entitled to say, ‘leave the punditry before the punditry leaves you!’”

Carragher pointed to Casemiro’s role in important games, revealing how his earlier assessment has changed. This turnaround has become a significant storyline in United’s season.

Carragher’s past criticism of Casemiro

This new stance contrasts sharply with Carragher’s comments from May 2024, shared in a Sky Sports discussion on YouTube.

“I always remember the saying ‘leave the football before the football leaves you.’ It seems the game has moved on from him. At this level, he should consider stepping back,” Carragher stated.

“He shouldn’t be putting himself through this when he’s capable of much more,” he added, referencing a poor performance that drew criticism.

Carragher’s remarks sparked significant discussion at the time, but Casemiro’s recent resurgence has changed the narrative.

By acknowledging this shift, Carragher has shown a rare openness to alter his strong views as a pundit.
