Crystal Palace has been preparing to lose Jean-Philippe Mateta, as the French player has expressed a desire to leave Selhurst Park.
After playing 186 matches for Crystal Palace, scoring 56 goals and providing 13 assists, he has attracted interest from Premier League clubs and teams in Europe.
While Manchester United considered him for their attacking lineup, Nottingham Forest made a £35 million bid.
AC Milan, however, managed to secure Mateta’s interest with a £30 million agreement.
Despite the deal seeming finalized and medical checks underway, journalist Fabrizio Romano has now confirmed that the move is off.
Romano announced on X that Jean-Philippe Mateta will not be joining AC Milan after two medical assessments.
Crystal Palace has been notified of Milan’s decision, but they are not the only Italian club interested.
Juventus previously contacted Crystal Palace with a rejected £25 million offer.
Milan’s decision may reopen opportunities for Juventus, though it is unclear if they remain interested in the 28-year-old.
