Joao Pedro matches Didier Drogba’s Chelsea record
Prime Video Sport highlighted that Joao Pedro has equalled Didier Drogba’s goal count from the Ivorian’s first season at Chelsea.
Drogba scored 16 goals in the 2004–05 season, achieving this in 41 matches.
Pedro has reached the same total of 16 goals but in just 38 games, meaning he achieved it three matches faster than Drogba.
Joao Pedro still has time to surpass Didier Drogba’s tally
The comparison is even more striking since Pedro has several matches remaining this season to exceed Drogba’s record.
Chelsea are competing in multiple tournaments, suggesting the forward will have more opportunities to increase his goal count.
If he scores again before the season concludes, Pedro will officially surpass Drogba’s debut-season tally.
While both players have different playing styles, matching a record linked to Drogba certainly attracts attention at Stamford Bridge.
