Jonny Evans has had a varied career at Manchester United, starting from the academy and later becoming a first-team coach.

After joining the academy in 2006, Evans spent time on loan before making a permanent move to West Brom in 2015.

Eight years later, following stints at West Brom and Leicester, the former Northern Ireland international returned to Carrington, concluding his playing career at his childhood club.

After retiring, the 38-year-old took the role of Loans Manager for part of the season, but left the position in December 2025.

In January, Evans returned to Old Trafford as part of Michael Carrick’s coaching team, earning praise for his work with young players Ayden Heaven and Leny Yoro.

Harry Maguire spoke about Evans in an interview on the club’s official website, saying, “Jonny is great to have around.”

Maguire added, “He brings the same commitment from his player days into coaching.”

He also mentioned, “Recently, I saw Jonny doing extra work with Leny and Ayden after a session.”

“As young players making their way, it’s important to learn and improve, and having someone like Jonny Evans to guide them is a real advantage.”

Both Heaven and Yoro joined the club during the 2024/25 season, with Yoro arriving in the summer and Heaven in the winter.

Even though they were signed under different managers, they are both seen as future stars for Manchester United.
