Manchester United is interested in Chelsea’s Andrey Santos but has not received any updates about his availability this summer.
The Blues midfielder is among several options being considered as INEOS prepares for Casemiro’s exit in June.
Update on United and Andrey Santos
United’s interest in Santos began last year during discussions with Chelsea about Alejandro Garnacho.
That deal allowed Garnacho to move to Stamford Bridge, but Chelsea was not ready to let Santos go at that time.
As the 2025/2026 season began, the 21-year-old found it hard to secure a starting position under Enzo Maresca, starting only four times in the first 19 Premier League games.
He was also an unused substitute five times, totaling just 441 minutes in the league before Maresca was dismissed, which might explain why United is considering a move.
Santos’ Progress Under Liam Rosenior
However, things have changed since Liam Rosenior took over.
Rosenior previously managed Santos during his loan at Strasbourg last season and started him in all 32 available Ligue 1 matches, even making him captain in several games.
This has allowed the Brazilian to take on a more significant role under the new manager.
In the eight league games since Rosenior has been in charge, Santos has started five times and come off the bench twice.
This turnaround has led Ben Jacobs to question United’s chances of signing Santos this year. He stated on The United Stand, “Chelsea believes that Santos’ development from Strasbourg to Chelsea is going well, and with a supportive manager, I think Manchester United understands this. I am not aware of any ongoing talks since he was mentioned in discussions for Garnacho.”
“If Manchester United learns that Chelsea might be open to a sale, it could still be a situation to monitor before the summer!”
