Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) is organizing the first Junior Club Championship to identify young cricket talents in Kerala and provide them opportunities. The matches will be held in a three-day format, starting from September 12 and continuing on weekends until October 19.
The tournament aims to train junior players to play smoothly in three-day formats. Matches will take place simultaneously at three venues: KCA Cricket Ground (Ground 1 & 2) in Thodupuzha, and KCA Cricket Ground in Mangalapuram. Only players registered with the Kerala Cricket Associations can participate in the tournament.
Six clubs from the state are participating in the championship. The teams include Little Masters Cricket Club from Thiruvananthapuram, Thrippunithura Cricket Club from Ernakulam, Success Cricket Club from Kozhikode, RSC-SG Cricket School from Ernakulam, Athreya Cricket Club from Thrissur, and Vintage Cricket Club from Kottayam. KCA Secretary Vinod S. Kumar stated that the Junior Club Cricket Championship is designed to serve as a stepping stone for junior players entering Kerala cricket.
He also noted that the championship aims to prepare young talents to play in various formats of cricket beyond just T20. The matches are being streamed live on the Kerala Cricket Association’s YouTube channel.
